We begin in the picturesque French Quarter. We'll discuss geography, architecture and the folks that made our fabled city in the swamp. We’ll visit the Olivier House Hotel, a beautiful French Quarter home built in 1839 and the “townhome” of the Locoul family, owners of the Laura Plantation. Next up, Treme neighborhood, founded by Free People of Color. The roots of jazz are deeply connected to this vibrant neighborhood. Ready for lunch? We’ll stop in a tasty French Quarter restaurant. After lunch it’s approximately one hour up River Road to the Creole Laura Plantation. Once there, one of the Laura Plantation’s own guides will lead us through the colorful home and tell the story of Laura La Coule. After a splendid day, we’ll return you to New Orleans.

• Lunch is not included in the cost of the tour. Together we’ll decide on a lunch option that suites your tastes.
• The tour at Laura Plantation is an embedded tour, with Laura Plantation’s own guides. You will join a public tour, of up to 32 people. If you would like to do tour with just your group there is an additional $500 fee, also with their guides. Advance notice is required.
• The drive is roughly 1 hour each way. On the way, we’ll share information but encourage questions and dialogue.
